LIMINAL SHIFT
LIMINAL SHIFT begins its first-person narrative within the walls of a house, before the player experiences being transported into a sequence of abstract worlds. The main activity is exploration, during which you have to navigate these spaces to advance the plot. This journey is defined by the absence of monsters to escape from or puzzles to impede movement, which puts the focus entirely on traversing each location.
The gamer directly interacts with the environment and the objects in it, as the only goal is to discover the path forward through the interconnected levels presented by the game. All gameplay unfolds as a single, continuous sequence from the very beginning. LIMINAL SHIFT’s structure is designed to be seamless, using dynamic scene changes that move the gamer between locations without any loading or black screens.
This solution maintains a continuous presence in the world of the project, from the start to the final scenes. You can interact with various found objects – this mechanic is designed to establish a connection with the abstract setting. The game contains many original levels, each of which is a special interpretation of the Backrooms concept and creates a strong feeling of being in an unknown place. Ultimately, the narrative branches out into multiple endings, questioning the purpose of escape versus remaining in these spaces.
