Them
Them follows the experiences of a 9-year-old boy named Tommy who finds himself in an arcade from the 1990s. His intention of spending time at the arcade is disrupted when the flow of time inside the building begins to become distorted. Incomprehensible sounds fill the room, marking the beginning of a psychological nightmare that displaces familiar reality. A routine visit turns into a disorienting adventure centered on a single machine.
It is this apparatus that contains the key to understanding what is happening and becomes the starting point of all difficulties. To progress in Them, the player must interact with this particular machine, which triggers the 2D platformer. You need to guide your character through this retro-style title, where successfully overcoming obstacles directly affects the environment in first-person mode. Off screen, the hall itself offers plenty of puzzles to solve and hidden objects to find.
These elements are required to progress through the story and unlock the next path. The gameplay alternates between these two perspectives, linking both realities together. A narrative is a series of choices and actions that have consequences. The way you solve puzzles and complete tasks in this game drives the story towards one of several endings. Each ending offers a unique outcome for Tommy, reflecting the journey he has taken. The fundamental task is to guide the boy through this sequence of events and find a way to leave the institution. The plot contains unexpected twists that change the perception of the situation.
